ACCELERATION OF YOUTH LAND RIGHTS: HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE BUILD A BETTER FUTURE

The Fourth International Youth and Land Governance Conference (CIGOFA4) offers a dynamic platform for youth-led discussions on accelerating land rights and access for young people in Africa. The conference aims to develop actionable recommendations for policymakers, traditional authorities, and civil society, fostering collaboration and driving tangible change.
CIGOFA4 will feature six specialized panels, each focusing on different aspects of advancing youth land access:
- Setting the Stage: This panel explores the current statutory frameworks governing land access at both continental and national levels, highlighting ongoing changes and future directions.
- Youth Perspectives: Panels two, three, and four delve into the evolving needs and agency of African youth in relation to land access, offering real-world examples of how these are being addressed in various contexts across the continent.
- Traditional Authorities: Panel five brings the vital perspectives of traditional authorities, who still manage a significant portion of Africa’s agricultural land, into the conversation.
- Global Partners: Panel six highlights the contributions of international partners and their role in supporting initiatives that accelerate youth land access.

Throughout the conference, participants will engage in open discussions aimed at formulating actionable steps to fast-track youth land access across Africa. These recommendations will serve as a roadmap for creating a sustainable and equitable future for the continent's younger generation.
