Theme: Land and Development in Tanzania: The Case of Customary Land Governance

Join us for a transformative event that will convene over 200 stakeholders from across Tanzania and beyond, including representatives from land, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, natural resources, civil society, academia, government, and the private sector. This three-day forum will offer a platform to discuss, reflect, and strategize on strengthening land governance systems that empower small-scale producers and protect customary land rights.
Objectives of the National Land Forum 2024 aims to:
- Foster Inclusive Land Policy Dialogue: Create a space for government and key stakeholders to discuss democratic land governance in support of sustainable development.
- Protect Small-Scale Producers’ Land Rights: Drive action on policy solutions that protect the land rights of small-scale farmers, pastoralists, indigenous communities, women, and youth.
- Strengthen Customary Land Governance: Develop partnerships that enhance local development through secure land tenure, particularly for small-scale producers.
- Celebrate 30 Years of HakiArdhi: Commemorate the achievements and contributions of HakiArdhi in advancing land rights since 1994.
