About the conference
The 2nd Edition of the Biennial Regional Conference on Customary Tenure Rights in Eastern Africa brings together policymakers, researchers, civil society, development partners, and pastoralist communities to engage in high-level dialogue on the dynamic landscape of customary land tenure.
Building on the outcomes of the inaugural 2023 conference, this year’s convening will focus on the role of policy, research, and learning in securing rangelands and pastoralism across Eastern Africa. The discussions are framed within the African Policy Framework on Pastoralism and the lead-up to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026.
Participants will explore progress in policy and legislation, share research findings, highlight innovations in rangeland management, and strengthen regional advocacy platforms for inclusive land governance.
